As of 2017 statistics, choking is the fourth leading cause of unintentional injury death.

Would you know how to recognise the signs of choking? Would you know how to save a life?

Throughout Yorkshire and surrounding areas we at Safety Training Ltd are working to promote methods of dealing with choking and how to spot the signs of choking through our bespoke course. The duration of our course is approximately three hours, with a maximum group of twelve students, which allows each delegate the opportunity to refine their knowledge in order to become an asset in the workplace. Prior to course commencement, upon request we can tailor our course to make course content more relevant to your workplace and employees.

Our training can take place at your location, alternatively you are welcome to utilise our own training facilities at the Blue Lagoon Diving and Leisure facilities, Spring Lodge Lake, Northfield Lane, Womersley, Yorkshire DN6 9BB

 

Our course is a necessity for anyone working in the care sector; this as attendees are taught about the causes of blockages and choking, the signs and symptoms of choking and what steps/precautions can be taken in order to prevent choking. Attendees will also gain an understanding of varied diet options, foods which pose a risk to patients alongside the necessary skills required to assist a patient with their eating.

 

Our course outline is as follows:

  • Signs and symptoms of choking.
  • Signs and symptoms of aspiration.
  • Which foods put service users at risk?
  • Assisting someone with their eating – what to do, and what not to do.
  • Managing an emergency.

At Safety Training Ltd our choking prevention awareness training course involves a variety of planned group activities in which all attendees are expected to participate in, as they will assist in helping them to learn the course content more thoroughly. Our experienced instructors will be on hand at all times to help guide participants through these sessions. Upon successful completion, attendees will be presented with a certificate.
